Cross-Cultural Work
United States Peace Corps
Without a doubt, my Peace Corps service in Chad, Africa, proved to be one of the most memberable learning experiences of my life! Before leaving Chad, I was able to begin a math project which resulte in the creation of a French/English computer data base for incoming math volunteers. This data base consisted of lesson plans and teaching methodologies created and tested in the field by actual Peace Corps olunteers.
The Navajo Indian Reservation
Three exciting years of my teaching career were spent on the Navajo Indian Reservation in a small Bureau of Indian Affairs Boarding School in Kinlichee, Arizona. There, I truely began to understand the meaning of the word, 'Harmony'. The Navajo people believe that all things, 'good and bad', must exist in a constant state of harmony in order to maintain a balanced and healthy life. I believe this philosophy can also be extended to the world of Educational Technology.
