I was very honored to meet NASA Astronaut Commander John Bennett Herrington at a recent AISES convention (American Indian Science and Engineering Society). He proudly represented NASA and the Chickasaw Nation on November 23, 2002, as the first tribally registered Native American astronaut to lift off into space aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour.
